Story about Website Icon

It’s hard to get bored when there are more or less hundreds of websites to keep you entertained. You can take online classes on how to play the banjo, answer quizzes on how well you know the lyrics of a Britney Spears classic, engage in conversations with strangers, learn a foreign language, join a cult, create a dating website for pets—the list is literally endless.

The Web was invented by British scientist Tim Berners-Lee in 1989. The idea behind it was to create a platform where scientists from different universities and institutes all over the world could exchange information. The first website was hosted on Berners-Lee’s computer; it explained the web, how to view other users’ documents, and how to create your own server.

An icon that closely represents website is the one for domain. It consists of a “WWW” tag placed upon a globe.
