This is a folder icon. It’s yours to
download for free. You could use this icon for many things, such as the
icon for a folder of music. Or you could replace the
address book picture of your girlfriend with this so the folder icon pops up every time she calls. Then she jealously looks through your
phone while you’re in the shower and wonders who this super beautiful folder icon is and why she’s calling you multiple times a day. There is a heated fight and your girlfriend is
crying, and you are crying, too. Things were said in anger to each other but
broken hearts can sometimes never be mended. You
kiss one final time and part ways. It is for the best, you tell yourself. A knock at the door, but who could it be? You open the door, already knowing the answer in your soul. It is the folder icon. You hold each other, heart beating against heart. You are destined to be together. This is an eternal
love.

Types of Folder Icons
If you type "folder" into Google you will see mostly icons, not photos of folders. And that’s not that surprising if we take into account that folders are used only for paper
documents while folder icons are used, well, for pretty much everything everywhere (your music, documents, programs, videos, and so on).
Classic-shaped folders, as you can see in these icons:

There are also other ones like these:

But probably you won't use them (at least not as a classic folder icon).
Anyway, if you think of a folder icon as a denotation of a storage space, it’s more likely you will use one or both of these:

What could we change? How about the sign on the folder? It could be be:
- blank
- musical notes
- a frame (video)
- the download sign
- a face (for user folder)
- a picture
- or even an XXX sign for a porn folder (if you wanted to mark it)

The more different types of files your users need to store, the more different folder icons you’ll need for faster recognition of the content.
